Beautiful drives, Great scenery and Capital cities
Travel along Europe’s great river as we make stops at many riverside campsites.
We have stays and guided visits in four of the capitals spanning the river – Belgrade in Serbia, Budapest in Hungary, Bratislava in Slovakia and Vienna in Austria.
Between campsites many of the drives are simply stunning, as we hug the riverside wherever possible, travelling all the way from Belgrade in Serbia to the rivers source at Donauschingen in southern Germany.
Along the way we also have stops at Melk in Austria with a visit to its Abbey, Regensburg in Germany for a Danube cruise and visit to Walhalla, Sigmaringen to visit Hohenzollern Palace, and Donauschingen to find the source of this great river.
Jane and Colin Young – Journey Along the Danube 2024
‘A great tour following the Danube form Belgrade, Serbia to its source in Donaueschingen, Germany. We visited major cities and towns with a friendly group of fellow travellers ably led as always by Kevin and Nurcan. We had a fantastic time, thank you.’
Ted and Susanna Brooking – Journey Along the Danube 2024
‘A unique and well researched tour joining the Danube in Serbia and following it back to its source in Donaueschingen in a crystal clear well. Travelling through 4 countries and 3 capital cities the tour gave us many surprises in every aspect, led by super tour leaders Nurcan and Kevin. Thank you so much.’

Today we get onto the Danube with a 1 hour river cruise to Ludwick 1st marvellous Walhalla building. There will be free time to visit there before we cruise back to Regensburg. We will take the city bus from directly outside the campsite to reach the centre, alternatively it is a pleasant 2-mile riverside walk in to town.

Just a short walk from our campsite alongside the Danube, is Sigmaringen Castle where we have a group tour arranged.
